Public NTP Server (Stratum 1)
NTP.prichindel.com is the home page of a small, independently operated public NTP server. It is one of many NTP servers publicly available worldwide, and one of a smaller number that currently operate at Stratum 1 — meaning its clock is disciplined directly by a GPS receiver and a hardware PPS (pulse-per-second) signal, rather than by synchronizing with other NTP servers.
Clock quality (from the GPS+PPS reference itself):
Abuse handling:
- Server is located in the Republic of Moldova, in Chișinău.
- Service area: most useful for clients in Moldova and Eastern Europe, where network latency is lowest; reachable worldwide, with higher latency for more distant clients.
- Open to any client, with no access restrictions.
- Runs on a physical (non-virtual) Linux server. Stratum 1 refers to servers synchronized directly to a reference clock (Stratum 0: GPS satellites, atomic clocks, and similar sources) rather than to another NTP server — this one holds that status via a GPS receiver and a hardware PPS signal, for as long as that lock stays healthy. The NTP Pool project asks that only servers with a genuine reference clock claim Stratum 1; this is why it does.
- Listed as a Primary time server (Stratum One) on the NTP Support Wiki at support.ntp.org.
- Participates in the global NTP pool at www.ntppool.org, recently rejoined and still building pool score — current monitoring score here.
- This service is provided independently—no organization sponsors the bandwidth or hardware, and there are no affiliations.
- A project under this domain has existed in some form since 2022. The current Stratum 1 backend (GPS + hardware PPS) came online in July 2026.
- According to ntppool.org, roughly 8 servers are currently listed in the .md pool zone, and that number has decreased somewhat over the past year. This server is one of them, and is currently Stratum 1; most of the others are not.
- No authentication keys, subscriptions, or payments are required.
- The NTP service itself is reachable at a separate hostname, ntp1.prichindel.com (this page, ntp.prichindel.com, is only the informational page — it does not answer NTP queries itself).
This server exists mainly because the .md pool zone has fewer active servers than it once did, and few of them are referenced to their own hardware clock. Running one more, reliably, is a small way to help with that, and a way to contribute to the .md community more broadly — given how pool infrastructure works, each server is shared across many clients rather than reserved to one, so a small, steady addition can spread out to some benefit for other pool users too, not only this server's own. Nothing more is claimed here than that. More on the state of the zone on the Join the MD Pool page.
